The Effectiveness of Empathy and Communication Group Counseling of Wee School in K Region: Its Impact on Emotional Regulation and Communication Skills
This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of empathy and communication group counseling at a Wee-School. Using a quasi-experimental pre-post design, the study involved 7 middle school and 8 high school male students from a Wee-School in C City, K Region. The group counseling was conducted as part of their curriculum. After the intervention, the effects of the program on the emotional regulation and communication skills of the middle and high school students were examined. The results showed that the empathy and communication group counseling had a positive impact on both emotional regulation and communication skills among the high school students. For the middle school students, however, the program resulted in positive changes only in communication skills. Additionally, the program demonstrated significant effects in reducing negative emotions rather than enhancing positive emotions for both groups. These findings provide empirical evidence on the effectiveness of group counseling in a Wee-School setting, offering practical insights for the implementation of school counseling programs.
