SEMANTICS OF WORDS RELATED TO PARTS OF KYRGYZ PERCUSSION MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS
This article provides a linguistic analysis of terms for parts of percussion instruments in Kyrgyz (dobulbas, dap, and zhekesan). It examines semantic features (bet "face”, kulak "ear”, zhargak "membrane”, közönök "hole"), etymology, and meaning development. The terms were formed on the basis of function and metaphorical transfer, likening parts to household items and body parts. This study links terminology to the ancient signaling function of percussion instruments in the Kyrgyz culture. It identifies the morphological and syntactic methods of vocabulary formation and patterns of semantic derivation from direct to terminological meanings. These findings enhance the Kyrgyz terminology and ethnomusicology.
