A ASSISTÊNCIA RELIGIOSA NA REINSERÇÃO SOCIAL EM CAMETÁ
This article reflects on the role of Religious Assistance in the context of the Cametá Prison System from 1990 to 2015, when the State began to provide guardianship for inmates in the municipality, although in an improvised manner, since the inmates were housed in the Civil Police jail, since there was no public prison in Cametá. During this long period, the media reported and the population expected the absence of the State in public security, which gave rise to fear among the urban population of Cametá regarding the possibility of escape, given the lack of structure for the guardianship of inmates. In the meantime, religious volunteers occupied a prominent place, as they developed Religious Assistance to compensate for the lack of social reintegration measures, as stipulated by the LEP (Penal Enforcement Law No. 7,210/1984), but which were still inoperative in Cametá.
