The New Basic R&D Project Planning and Development Strategy of the Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources: Focusing on Knowledge Spillover Effect Analysis
The Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources (KIGAM) has initiated the planning of a new six-year basic project to be implemented in 2025, identifying research topics that seek to address national and societal needs, such as lunar exploration, securing essential mineral supply chains, battery recycling, mitigating climate change, and earthquake prediction and assessment. The baseline project planning of KIGAM focuses on pre-assessing the knowledge diffusion effects of research results across industry and academia while also ensuring alignment with the strategic goals of the nation and the Institute. The aim of this study was to assess the knowledge diffusion potential of the planned research projects based on a comparison of these with previously obtained results and, based on this assessment, propose future research directions and policy implications for KIGAM.
