DESAFIOS NA REDUÇÃO DOS INDICADORES DE MORTALIDADE MATERNA EM RORAIMA: CONTRIBUIÇÕES À CIÊNCIA

The Maternal Mortality Ratio maintains frightening numbers in Roraima, reflecting socioeconomic, racial and geographic inequalities. The region faces additional setbacks due to its border position, the Venezuelan migration crisis and limitations in infrastructure and human resources. Maternal Mortality Ratios (MMR) in Roraima exceed the national average, especially in socioeconomically vulnerable areas. Although biological factors such as extreme age groups and obstetric conditions contribute, social, economic and cultural determinants are central. Black and brown women and women in precarious situations are at greater risk of maternal death, highlighting the need for interventions that promote equity and comprehensive care. Priorities include improvements in obstetric care, professional training and strengthening access to health services, especially in indigenous areas. Epidemiological surveillance systems adapted to migratory specificities are essential.
