In this article, an attempt has been made to consider the term “patriotism” from different angles. To begin with, we delved into the origins of ancient Greek culture, from which the concept of “virtue” = “patriotism” = “love of the Motherland” actually originated. Further, using the example of Russia and the United States, the author undertakes an analysis of the applicability of the term “patriotism” to both sides. Then, the phenomenon of the “American dream” and American-style patriotism is examined, which is divided into two approaches: universal and unique. As a result, similarities and differences were revealed about the patriotism of the two countries: the USA and the Russian Federation.

Abstract

The conjuncture of international relations in the post-Soviet space is quite chaotic and disorderly. The modern world is facing new challenges and conflicts that did not exist before. The younger generation finds itself at risk of information warfare. Therefore, it is considered necessary to start a conversation about the patriotic education of our citizens.
