PROBLEMS OF FORMING THE NATIONAL IDENTITY IN THE CONTEXT OF GLOBALIZATION AND MODERN CHALLENGES

Globalization has created opportunities through modern information networks to influence the consciousness of indiViduals, bypassing national educational institutions and the media. In the context of growing ideological confrontation between the West and Russia, especially after 2014, there has been an urgent need to deVelop a sense of patriotism and citizenship among young Russians. An important step in solVing this problem was the introduction at the country's universities, starting in the fall of 2023, of the course “Fundamentals of Russian Statehood”. On the one hand, the experience of teaching this discipline allows to judge the general state of affairs with political socialization. On the other hand, it indicates the importance for the students to deVelop the skills of critical analysis of information about the most important eVents in the country and abroad, as well as to determine their own attitude to what is happening in combination with a sense of ciVic responsibility.
