Screening of Resistant Cluster Bean Germplasms/Varieties against Stem Rot Disease

Clusterbean, Cyamopsis tetragonoloba (L.) Taub., also known as Guar or Guwar, is a vital legume crop grown in arid and semi-arid regions in India. However, it faces challenges from phytopathogenic fungal and bacterial diseases, notably stem rot caused by Sclerotium rolfsii, leading to significant yield losses. The fungus has a broad host range, surviving as sclerotia on plant debris and thriving under warm and moist conditions. Among the forty germplasms/varieties, two germplasms/varieties were highly resistant against the stem rot disease of cluster beans, whereas 12 germplasms/varieties showed a resistant reaction. Fifteen germplasms/varieties were moderately resistant, eight showed moderately susceptible reactions, two were susceptible, and only one showed a highly susceptible response against the disease..
