As a Manifestation of the Longing for Eternity and the Desire to be Remembered Eternally Topkapı Palaca Cellar Romm Library Money Foundation
In this review, the development of the Pantry Room Library Money Foundation operating in Topkapı Palace, over a period of nearly a century, is discussed. In the research, firstly, the emergence and development of cash foundations in the Ottoman society over time and the roles and functions they assumed are focused on.On the other hand, it is discussed how the Pantry Room Library Money Foundation emerged and developed in the early 1740s, and how the foundation's accumulation grew with the subsequent donations made by individuals of different statuses around the relatively privileged Palace in the Ottoman society, called the "military class". The change dynamics of the main capital of the foundation, which has a public legal entity, between 1741 and 1832, which corresponds to approximately 90 years, is discussed, as well as the intervention of the political will, which is also discussed in the study. It is understood from the archive records of 1880 that after the abolition of the Janissary Corps, the foundation's main capital was operated by the Mint, a public institution responsible for supplying liquidity to the market, and therefore continued to pay a certain interest amount to the Enderun Library every year.
