Numerical computation study of intensified smelting furnace for antimony concentrate

This research investigates the application of mathematical models in multiphase flows for antimony smelting process. It highlights the effectiveness of using the Volume of Fluid (VOF) model with an explicit iteration numerical calculation format to achieve high accuracy and save computational resources. The study includes a grid sensitivity analysis to determine the optimal computational grid size. Additionally, the research explores the growth and breakup process of bubbles during top blowing, observing a maximum penetration depth and fluctuation in size and shape due to changes in internal dynamic conditions. Simulation of a 10-second blowing process reveals the generation of small droplets at the gas-liquid interface, ensuring thorough mixing for reaction. The study also examines the effect of blowing speed on melt pool stirring rate, finding significant increases in stirring rate with speed increments from 100m/s to 167m/s, and slight increases at 200m/s. These findings contribute to the optimization of smelting processes, enhancing efficiency and product quality.
