Numerical simulation of penetration of concrete target by kinetic energy projectile

Motivated by the need of three-dimensional method for interface calculations that disposes of the complex structure of the interface, we present a numerical method, built from a volume-of-fluid interface technique that uses a fuzzy interface calculation in each cell. An example of the method is given by the penetration of metal rod to concrete target that is simulated by coupled with Eulerian and Lagrangian methods based on finite difference. Momentum, mass, and energy conservation equations are computed using finite differences on cubic grid. Pressure effects of velocity gradient and internal energy was calculated in Lagrangian steps, and transport quantity is calculated through fuzzy interface method in Eulerian steps, so-called “splitting method”. The numerical method is programmed by the language of software Fortran Power Station 4.0, and the special software studied independently is used to visualize those numerical results: 2d-section figures of 3d-numerical simulation, 3d-simulating figures, and pressure curves on special points. These prove that the numerical method and the model are effective.
