A Novel Synthesis Strategy For Incorporating Isoxazole Moieties Into Thiazole-Based Chalcones To Yield Imidazole-Derived Heterocycles
To synthesis and investigation, the biological activity of azole-based heterocyclic derivatives, evaluating their potential as antibacterial, anticancer, and anti-inflammatory medicines. nImidazole-derived heterocyclic compounds were produced from 1-benzyl-2-mercapto-1H-imidazole-5-carbaldehyde, sodium hydroxide, and aromatic aldehydes like benzaldehyde, 4-bromobenzaldehyde, and 4-fluorobenzaldehyde. The procedure included dissolving thiazole-derived chalcone compounds in ethanol, including hydroxylamine hydrochloride and sodium acetate, and applying heat for purification. Compounds were analyzed using mass spectrometry and NMR spectroscopy to determine molecular weight and structure. Data analysis using SPSS to summarize categorical data using percentages and continuous variables with mean and standard deviation. The synthesized imidazole-based heterocyclic derivatives (9a-10j) have melting points between 120°C and 210°C, affected by substituents (R1, R2, R3, and R4) such as halogens, nitro groups, and functional groups (phenyl, alkyl, methoxy). Elevated melting points were associated with bigger or electron-withdrawing substituents, such as OCH3 and SO2Me. Yields vary from 60% to 90%, indicating efficient synthesis, with sulfur-containing compounds (SMe and SEt) demonstrating constant reactivity and diverse yields. In conclusion, the synthetic approach for integrating isoxazole moieties into thiazole-based chalcones has yielded a variety of imidazole-derived heterocycles exhibiting potential biological activity.
