Imaging of eyelid pilomatrixoma: a case report from Medan
Introduction: Pilomatrixoma is a rare subcutaneous tumor arising from the hair follicle matrix, and it is often misdiagnosed. Imaging can aid in the preoperative diagnosis of pilomatrixoma. This case report presents a pilomatrixoma located on the eyelid of a middle-aged female. Case Description: A 45-year-old female presented with complaints of a painless lump in the left upper eyelid for the past 7 years, which had shifted the position of the eye. Physical examination revealed a solid, immobile, round-shaped lump in the left upper eyelid with a smooth surface, along with decreased vision in the left eye. CT imaging showed an oval lesion with multiple calcifications. Histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis of pilomatrixoma. Conclusion: Imaging plays a crucial role in enhancing the accuracy of pilomatrixoma diagnosis, particularly in cases involving tissues or structures surrounding the tumor.
