A Study on the Possibility of Commercializing Art Kits using Flexible Design Patterns : Through the analysis of the effect of FDP's hedonic characteristics on user favorability
This study explored the commercialization potential of a 'DIY Art Kit' utilizing flexible design patterns (FDP). Three different shaped art kit models were created, and a Likert scale was developed to measure the hedonic and functional characteristics of the models, as well as their likeability. An experiment was conducted with 60 college students divided into two groups and further classified into individual and group operations to compare the influence of hedonic characteristics on likeability versus functional characteristics. The results showed that likeability differed significantly depending on the shape and color of the model, with colored models showing a stronger response than monochromatic models. Furthermore, standardized coefficients (β) from regression analysis revealed that playful characteristics had a relatively greater impact on the likeability of the models compared to functional characteristics. In conclusion, the importance of color coordination was confirmed for DIY art kits using FDP, and future commercialization efforts will focus on systematic reviews of various color combinations.
