A Study on the Collaboration-Based Creative Process between Artificial Intel ligence and Human Designer for Design Creativity Education

The rapid development and increasing competition in the 21st-century design industry have positioned creativity as a core competitive advantage, emphasizing the importance of fostering creative thinking in design education. The recent advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) have enabled support for human designers in areas such as data analysis, pattern recognition, and generative design, leading to innovative design outcomes. This study explores how AI and human designer collaboration-based creative processes can enhance design creativity. Through literature review, case studies, and analysis of research content, the study identifies new design processes and discusses the potential positive contributions of utilizing AI technology as a collaborative concept in design development, outweighing its negative implications. Additionally, generative AI platforms such as MidJourney were employed to create collaborative graphic imagery. By combining human designers' creative judgment—rooted in intuition, emotion, and cultural context—with AI's strengths in data processing and ideation, this research proposes an effective collaborative model. It aims to explore the potential of human-AI collaboration to present a new paradigm in creative design education and practice, contributing to the development of collaboration-based creative processes applicable in educational settings.
