A Study on Exhibition Room Design of Marine Museums Based on Emotional Design and AHP
This study was conducted based on a method that combines Emotional Design and the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). By collecting and selecting emotional vocabularies, the study applied Semantic Differential (SD) and Likert scale analysis methods to examine the exhibition spaces of marine museums across four aspects: style, layout, color, and emotion. Emotional Design quantifies users’ emotional and aesthetic needs and integrates them into the design process, while AHP systematically analyzes the emotional requirements of users and assigns weights to clarify the priorities of each design element. The study results indicate that in terms of spatial layout, a continuous spatial arrangement ranked as the highest priority, while in the aspect of spatial color, a diverse range of spatial colors emerged as the most important factor. Regarding spatial style, dynamic-style exhibition room designs were evaluated as the top preference, and in terms of spatial ambiance, a quiet spatial atmosphere received the highest favorability. This study aims to provide a scientific basis for future marine museum exhibition room designs to enhance the visitor experience and emotional connection with the audience. Additionally, it seeks to establish a theoretical foundation for marine museum exhibition room design, thereby improving design quality and contributing to the promotion of marine culture.
