Complete Mitochondrial Genome Sequence of Malacocottus gibber from the Deep-sea of the East Sea, Korea
<i>Malacocottus gibber</i> is a deep-sea fish belonging to the family Psychrolutidae, distributed in the temperate waters of the northwestern Pacific, including northern Hokkaido and the Sea of Okhotsk in Japan. To understand the genetic characteristics of deep-sea fish, we analyzed the complete mitochondrial genome sequence of <i>Malacocottus gibber</i>. The total length of the mitochondrial genome of Malacocottus gibber was 17,240 bp, with a gene composition similar to that observed in most other teleosts and higher vertebrates (13 protein-coding genes, two ribosomal RNA genes, and 22 transfer RNA genes). The major non-coding region of the <i>Malacocottus gibber</i> mitochondrial genome was located between tRNAPro and tRNAPhe, and its length was determined to be 1,571 bp.
