Conceptual Design of Educational Video Games in Nuclear Engineering Curriculum Teaching
The integration of educational system reform and the deep involvement of new types of technology, which has become increasingly intertwined through multiple rounds of combination. Educational video games are becoming more widely used in education due to their ability to simulate real-world application scenarios. "Nuclear Reactor Engineering" is the first professional course for students majoring in nuclear science and technology, primarily taught to sophomore students. For most students who have never been exposed to nuclear power theory and have no access to or experience with nuclear power plants (NPPs), this course can be quite obscure and not conducive to mastering professional knowledge. In response to this course, this paper specifically proposes an educational video game to stimulate students' motivation to learn. The game sets up multiple application scenarios, such as construction and operation, to help students become proficient in the layout, components, and characteristics of NPPs. The game software is currently under development, and this paper provides the design ideas and interface design of the software. This paper can provide a reference for the theoretical and practical research of educational video games.
