Case study of performance degradation on the Proxmox related to native host
This paper presents the file system performance comparison of native operating system and Proxmox hypervisor-based virtualization compared. Paper includes Centos in the role of the native/guest operating system, and Filebench as software for benchmarking. The tests performed on a native operating system, and on the same operating system in Proxmox virtual environment for one, two, three and four virtual machines. We set up a model of native and virtual environment. Model predicts the native operating system is remarkable faster than the virtual operating system. This paper confirms the model prediction, as solid file system performance drops due to virtualization.
