Examination of the Resolution Parameter in an Image Denoising Algorithm Based on Fractional Diffusion

This paper investigates the effect of resolution parameter values on image denoising performances. A fractional anisotropic diffusion partial differential equation, solved in the Fourier domain, is employed as the denoising algorithm. The algorithm is varied based on resolution in the Fourier domain resulting in higher time steps and increased efficiency. Quality of the proposed variation is further examined using SNR, PSNR, and MSSSIM measures and the obtained results are discussed.

Abstract

This paper investigates the effect of resolution parameter values on image denoising performances. A fractional anisotropic diffusion partial differential equation, solved in the Fourier domain, is employed as the denoising algorithm. The algorithm is varied based on resolution in the Fourier domain resulting in higher time steps and increased efficiency. Quality of the proposed variation is further examined using SNR, PSNR, and MSSSIM measures and the obtained results are discussed.
