Multi-Connectivity Framework Based on Open-Source 5G Network Core
The 5th generation of mobile networks (5G) offers significant advantages and numerous use cases for industries and customers providing more reliable and high speed connections to millions of devices. Currently there are many open source implementations of architectures based on Software Defined Networking (SDN). In this paper, we focus on Free5gc implementation of 5G core network and we provide a scalable test environment using UERANSIM project for Radio Access Network (RAN) and User Equipment (UE) network components. We create an example scenario with one free5gc 5G network core, one gNB component and 2 UE devices, with an external client connected to both UE devices. We create an example flow where external client, through TCP connections to UE devices, access the Internet. Also, we provide a resource analysis that shows balanced resource utilization, and identify potential directions for further research.
