Back-Illuminated Holographically Interrogated Bioderived Image Sensor
This extended abstract demonstrates a novel approach to holographic interrogation of the Morpho butterfly wings used as a broad-spectrum imager. The holographic readout is performed at the dorsal side of the wing sample, while the opto-thermo-mechanical excitation of the wing is induced through its ventral (back) side. This mitigates the tradeoff between high-quality holographic readout and high sensor sensitivity due to increased absorption.
