FMCW and OFDM radar receiver SW tool for performance analysis in automotive applications

In this work, we present a software simulator of automotive radar receivers for Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) and Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) signals operating in the currently used 76-81 GHz frequency band as well as in the D-band (110-170 GHz) allocation, defined for the future in Europe. The simulator has been designed and implemented for evaluating the effects of interfering systems in realistic traffic scenarios, as a function of the configuration parameters of the automotive radar sensors. We present and discuss the effects on the Signal to Noise pluse Interferer Ratio (SNIR), assuming that both the interferer and the interfered use either FMCW or OFDM signals.
