Performance Measurement Testbed for Hybrid Access Based on Multipath Transport Layer Protocol
Modern communication devices usually have multiple network interfaces allowing them to communicate over different networking technologies. This property is especially interesting in mobile communications, where hybrid terrestrial/satellite access can be utilized to achieve more reliable communication, increased bandwidth and continuous service sessions. Protocols that support multipath are necessary to achieve hybrid access. MultiPath Transmission Control Protocol (MPTCP) is one such protocol that is even recognized by 5G standards as one of promising approaches to support hybrid access. In this paper, we propose initial testbed for measuring MPTCP performances to be used in estimating the performance of hybrid access.
