Analysis of the emerging trends and challenges of the right to repair movement
This study addresses the main emerging trends and challenges in the right to repair movement, analyzing its dimensions and implications through a literature review methodology that examines relevant academic articles and documents. Motivated by the lack of detailed analysis on this topic in the existing literature, the work identifies both advancements and barriers that shape the adoption of sustainable repair practices. The results indicate a growing trend in the adoption of repairability policies and an increase in consumer awareness about the environmental impact of their consumption choices, highlighting the need to overcome significant challenges such as regulatory barriers, resistance from manufacturers, and a lack of technical skills necessary for effective repairs. The relevance of the study lies in its theoretical contribution by mapping the trends and challenges of the right to repair movement, providing a solid foundation for future research, while its methodological implications offer a comprehensive and up-to-date overview of the subject. Socially, the study promotes practices that potentially reduce electronic waste and foster sustainability, while from a managerial perspective, it emphasizes the importance of corporate strategies that favor product durability and repairability.
