ORSHIPING THE CULT OF ANCIENTS OR LEAVING THE FUTURE AS A HOSTAGE TO THE PAST / THE QUR'AN'S STRUGGLE AGAINST THE STATUS QUO AND ITS CALL TO HUMANITY TO RATION

It is generally accepted that the course of development and progress of Islamic thought continues to decline uninterrupted from the thirteenth century to the present. Although it made a serious contribution to the world's scientific and cultural heritage from an intellectual perspective between the ninth and thirteenth centuries, why have these intellectual contributions not continued by subsequent Muslim societies? Based on the fact that the factors that cause societies to progress and regress are multifaceted, this issue needs to be addressed in many areas within a scientific framework. Here, we discuss the claim that the fundamental reason for the crisis in Muslim societies and the Islamic sciences today is due to the unquestioned acceptance of the cultural heritage of the past without criticism and evaluation, instead sanctifying and glorifying the past and carrying it to the present. KEY WORDS: Kalâm, Quran, Reason, Cultural Heritage, Cult of Ancestors.

Abstract

It is generally accepted that the course of development and progress of Islamic thought continues to decline uninterrupted from the thirteenth century to the present.
