The Contexts of Vsevolod Ivanov's Early Prose: New Interpretations
The article proposes interpretations of the contexts of the early prose of Vsevolod Vyacheslavovich Ivanov, one of the prominent representatives of early 20th-century Russian literature. The main goal of the study is to explore new interpretations by contemporary researchers of the cultural and historical conditions that influenced the creation of his initial stories and novellas. The relevance of studying the context of Ivanov's prose is due to the fact that his early works reflect significant events of the 1920s, which had a profound impact on the young writer's development. The article also emphasizes the need to revisit existing one-sided approaches to the evaluation of Ivanov's early prose, which has long been overshadowed by his more famous works. To address the research objectives, biographical, comparative, and structural-semiotic analysis methods were employed, enabling a deeper understanding of the contexts in which the author's works were created. The results indicate that examining these contexts provides insight into Ivanov's behavior during those years, his views on the revolution and the civil war as destructive forces, and his quest for new forms and methods of depicting tragic events in Kazakhstan, Western Siberia, and the Far East. Thus, the study of Ivanov's early prose contributes to a broader understanding of his literary legacy and his impact on the development of Russian literature.
