Amelanotic Melanoma Mimicking Squamous Cell Carcinoma

We report on a patient diagnosed with amelanotic melanoma that presented with dermoscopic and histological features resembling squamous cell carcinoma. The patient was referred for Mohs micrographic surgery and subsequent reconstruction. Immunohistochemical stains were requested demonstrating strongly positive staining for melanoma antigen recognized by T cells 1 and negative results for pancytokeratin and carcinoembryonic antigen. These findings confirmed the diagnosis of amelanotic nodular melanoma, Stage IIC (T3bN0M0), highlighting the importance of accurate diagnostic techniques in guiding appropriate clinical management strategies.
