Data were collected from 350 (50%) senior secondary students in the district, consisting of 36 students who received personal tuition and 314 who were not provided with any tuition. 187 students were receiving good parental care whereas, 163 were not. These students were evaluated using an attitude scale, the Attitude towards English Language Scale (ATELS) developed by Clara Dominique (2016), and a personal data sheet. The data were analyzed using statistical techniques like mean, standard deviation, and ttest. The result showed a high achievement level in English among the students. The students who receive personal tuition had better attitudes towards English. However, no signicant difference was observed in the attitude of senior secondary students concerning parental care. Also, no signicant difference was found in the achievement concerning both, parental care and personal tuition as variables.
