The value of autopsy-believe it or not.

Autopsy basically is an important medico legal procedure to rule out the cause of death and time since death[1]. Furthermore, autopsies are the most important part of forensic pathology, where establishing the exact cause and manner of death has important medico-legal implications[2]. The value of autopsies has not changed, but it has decreased recently, primarily as a result of family matters and other factors influencing modern medical practice[3]. There is one certainty that we will all die, and useful information is associated with death. In “De cock and colleagues” 2019 paper, “Learning from the dead” the authors highlight how older physicians recall the regular visits to the autopsy room in their earlier carrier and recognise with unease the gradual decline and in the frequency that autopsies carried out[4].
