A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF TUOREN VIDEO LARYNGOSCOPE AND MACINTOSH LARYNGOSCOPE FOR ENDOTRACHEAL INTUBATION IN NORMAL AIRWAY PATIENTS
Background: Airway management is done with oro- tracheal intubation for oxygenation and ventilation. Laryngoscopy and intubation is considered a vital skill for an anesthesiologists. The objective of our study was to evaluate and compare the intubations done by TUOREN Video-laryngoscope and Macintosh Laryngoscope. Methodology: A prospective, observational study was done in 100 patients undergoing elective surgical procedures with normal airway. All patients were pre-medicated and pre-oxygenated with 100% o2 for 5- min. They were induced with inj. Propofol 2mg/kg and neuromuscular blocking agent Inj. Succinyl choline 1.5 mg/kg. Patients were divided into 2 groups for intubation done with Tuoren VL and Macintosh DL. We had noted TTI, number of intubation attempts, C-L Grade, POGO Score, modication of positioning, the requirement of external laryngeal manipulation and complications during and after intubation. Time to intubate in Tuoren VL group (45.6 ± 5.58) was signicantly shorter than Observation And Results: Macintosh Laryngoscope group (48.9 ± 9.02)(p=0.007). Percentage of glottic opening was better in Tuoren VL group than Macintosh Laryngoscope group (P< 0.001). The requirement of optimizing maneuver was statistically higher in Macintosh group than Tuoren Video Laryngoscope Group (p- 0.002). The study concluded that Tuoren Video Laryngo Conclusion – scope is better than Macintosh Laryngoscope for Endotracheal intubation in normal airway patients as it provides shorter time to intubate, signicantly superior glottic view by percentage of glottis opening [POGO] score with fewer requirement of optimization maneuvers without any complications.
