CORRELATION OF CYTOLOGY AND CELL BLOCK PREPARATION OF ENDOMETRIAL ASPIRATE WITH ENDOMETRIAL BIOPSY
Endometrial cancer is a prevalent malignancy among women, with early detection crucial for better outcomes. This study evaluates the diagnostic utility of endometrial aspiration cytology (EAC) and cell block (CB) techniques compared with biopsy, the standard diagnostic method. Conducted at a tertiary hospital, this crosssectional study involved 121 patients with endometrial abnormalities. Specimens from EAC and CB were analyzed and correlated with biopsy ndings to assess sensitivity, specicity, positive and negative predictive value. Results showed a high concordance between CB and biopsy diagnoses. EAC and CB were particularly effective for assessing benign and hormonerelated pathologies, proving to be practical, minimally invasive alternatives to biopsy. Findings suggest that CB preparation, with its preserved cellular architecture, enhances diagnostic yield, potentially reducing the need for more invasive procedures. Future research may explore molecular markers in CB preparations for further diagnostic renement.
