EVALUATIVE PRACTICE IN SANSKRIT EDUCATION OF ASSAM: A STUDY AT SECONDARY SCHOOL LEVEL
Sanskrit's significant cultural and educational role in India necessitates modernized teaching methods and effective assessment techniques. While robust educational goals and infrastructure are important, the true effectiveness of Sanskrit education depends on teachers and their assessment methods. Often criticized for focusing too much on content and grammar-translation, Sanskrit teaching can lead to a decline in student interest. This study investigates the assessment techniques used by Sanskrit teachers in secondary schools in Assam's Nalbari district, involving 100 school heads and 100 Sanskrit teachers. The findings aim to develop a more effective approach to teaching Sanskrit, enhancing student performance and interest in the language.
