Wide-Band Gysel Combiner for C-Band High Power Applications
This paper presents an approach to enhance both the power handling capability and bandwidth of the Gysel combiner. The bandwidth is improved by varying the impedances while keeping a maximum impedance that ensures the required power handling and acceptable return loss. The design approach is demonstrated in a design operating within the 3–6 GHz frequency range, achieving octave fractional bandwidth and handling RF power up to 400 W in continuous wave operation. The topology of the proposed Gysel combiner features a compact form factor with dimensions of 39x36 mm.
