Use of Streaming Platforms in the Perception of Aging Among Older Adults

This study examined how the use of streaming platforms affects the perception of aging in older adults. Semi-structured interviews were conducted to explore their relationship with technology and their views on aging. Streaming, accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic, has emerged as a flexible and personalized alternative to traditional television. Despite facing technological challenges and a digital divide, participants found that streaming improved their quality of life by offering entertainment options tailored to their preferences. Social interactions resulting from shared platform use also strengthened their emotional bonds. The results highlight that, despite initial barriers, streaming platforms contribute to a more positive perception of aging, allowing older adults to maintain an active and positive attitude. These findings underscore the importance of continuing to promote digital inclusion to enhance the lives of older adults.
