Study of Heat Treatment Effects on Al6061
This paper presents an experimental study on the effect of heat treatment on the mechanical properties of Al6061 alloy. The heat treatment was conducted at temperatures ranging from 523 °C to 554 °C, with soaking times between 20 to 60 minutes, and quenching mediums of sand, water, and oil, following an L9 orthogonal array design. The results indicated improvements in compression strength, hardness, and wear resistance by 50.23%, 120.37%, and 93.39%, respectively, compared to the untreated Al6061 alloy. However, a decrease in tensile strength by 22.34% was observed. The optimal conditions were achieved at a heating temperature of 554°C, a soaking time of 60 minutes, and using water as the quenching medium.
