A Circularly/ Linearly Polarized Multiband Antenna with Alternating Split-Ring Resonators for Wireless Applications

This research presents a dipole antenna design that uses metamaterials to obtain a multiband device for advanced wireless applications. The antenna has overall electrical dimensions of 36.6×140×0.5<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">mm</inf>3 and is printed on a Rogers RT 5870 substrate. By incorporating split-ring resonator array with an alternative arrangement to the dipole antenna, a circularly polarized multiband antenna with high gain, excellent impedance matching and high efficiency is achieved. This metamaterial antenna operates at various frequencies, including 0.9-1GHz, 2.34-2.48GHz, 3.32-3.43GHz, 4.57-4.69GHz, 5.12-5.24GHz, and 5.93-6.11GHz, making it suitable for a wide range of applications, including RFID, WLAN, WiMAX, Wi-Fi 6/6E, and 5G NR. The proposed structure features low profile, easy integration into electrical circuits, and low-cost fabrication, making it a suitable option for various wireless systems.
