Evaluation of economic growth considering the measurement of environmental impact through CO2 emissions in the main Latin American countries

Objective: To evaluate Kuznets' theory that economic growth reaches a tipping point and CO2 emissions will begin to decrease, benefiting future generations. Methodology: The research is quantitative, with a descriptive scope, nonexperimental design and a cross-sectional study. The subject of the study was analyzed from the "our world in data" database, which presents the environmental damages of Latin America from 2012-2021. Variables analyzed were CO2 emissions and GDP. Contribution: Discrepancies were found in certain countries regarding Kuznets' theory, since it generalizes and groups the most developed and industrialized countries with the least developed and developing countries. Likewise, Mexico has had constant economic growth with less CO2 emissions in the last ten years
