A makeshift stent using feeding port of siliconized nasogastric tube for management of idiopathic acquired supraglottic web
To discuss the use of makeshift stent using feeding port of siliconized nasogastric tube for the management of idiopathic acquired supraglottic web. Study Design: Case Report. Setting: Tertiary Government Hospital. Patient: One. 60-year-old female was presented with persistent hoarseness and dyspneic episodes. On examination, we identified a supraglottic web. Patient promptly underwent tracheostomy. For the second stage procedure, the supraglottic web was excised with CO2 laser then a stent designed by the authors using a feeding port of nasogastric tube was placed Patient was eventually decannulated with improvement of voice. There are limited number of reported cases of supraglottic web and the clinical experience in its management. The need for novel and alternative treatment may help expand the management opportunities. We believe that the approach described warrants additional investigation to define its role in treatment of supraglottic stenosis and web.
