Gradient-Based Control Strategy for Microring Modulator Wavelength Stabilization Under Thermal Perturbation
We propose and demonstrate a gradient-based thermal control strategy to resolve the auto-alignment and tracking challenges of microring modulator wavelength against temperature fluctuations. Wavelength stabililzation have been achieved at different desired operating points of the received mean optical power while applied 42-Gb/s electrical signal. Experimental results show that the optimal performance of the microring modulator in high-speed transmission is observed at the operating point where the measured mean optical power gradient by monitoring the through port is at its maximaum.
