Prefabrication in Pakistan: Navigating Barriers for a Sustainable Construction Future

Pakistan's construction industry faces significant challenges like inefficiency, high costs, project delays, and environmental concerns due to dependability on traditional construction approaches. This research explores the adaptation of prefabrication technology in Pakistan's construction industry to help overcome some of these problems. The study employs mixed methods to investigate factors affecting prefabrication acceptance, perceived benefits, and adoption barriers. Results indicate that although prefabrication presents benefits such as lower construction duration, cost savings, and greater sustainability, challenges, including high initial cost, lack of skilled labor, and poor infrastructure, are major hindrances. The study concluded that the broad adoption of prefabrication does, however, require continued government support, primarily in the form of financial incentives and policy reform. The findings portray the impact of prefabrication, which can be utilized by construction firms to ameliorate construction efficiency, quality, and environmental sustainability in Pakistan, resulting in the improvement of the construction process in Pakistan.
