Moment Analysis of Solute Permeation Kinetics at the Interface of Spherical Molecular Aggregates by Using Partial Supplying High- Performance Liquid Chromatography
Partial supplying high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) was proposed as an experimental method. Moment equations were systematically developed for analyzing elution peak profiles measured by partial supplying HPLC to study solute permeation kinetics at the interface of spherical molecular aggregates. The moment analysis method was applied to the determination of partition equilibrium and interfacial solute permeation rate constants of three solutes to sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) micelles. Their values were comparable with those determined by conventional HPLC, i.e., continuous supplying HPLC. Partial supplying HPLC experiments were conducted under the conditions that the ODS stationary phase surface is dynamically coated by SDS monomers. It was tried to analyze how the length of the partially supplied SDS solution zone changes due to diffusion phenomena during chromatographic processes. It was concluded that the moment analysis method using partial supplying HPLC is effective for the kinetic study of the interfacial solute permeation of spherical molecular aggregates.
