«Descer ao caos para desvendar o verdadeiro rosto»? Ensaio sobre o telúrico e o simpoiético na arte de Graça Morais

This study seeks to examine key aspects of Graça Morais’ work, drawing on the concepts of the telluric and sympoiesis (Haraway, 2016). It argues that the intersection of the poetic, pictorial, and political in her art serves not only as a space for aesthetic reflection but also as a symbolic form of resistance against environmental and civilizational alienation and destruction. The essay focuses on two drawings and the installation featured in one of the rooms of the exhibition Os Rituais do Silêncio (2023-2024). It also takes an interdisciplinary approach to examine the work in its entirety, exploring its connection to an eco-poetic and eco-artistic aesthetic within contemporary culture.
