Performance Analysis of Channel Models for Diverse Cellular Environments
In the ever-evolving domain of cellular technology, ensuring optimal signal behaviour is paramount for designing and deploying efficient cellular networks. Reliable signal propagation is fundamental for seamless voice and data transmission, and different environments present unique challenges. Dense urban areas, for example, can introduce complex signal interactions due to buildings and other structures, while rural environments may have limited infrastructure and require long-range signal transmission. This study investigates the performance of 3GPP and mmMAGIC channel models in the context of cellular network design. The objective is to identify the most suitable model for various deployment scenarios, including dense urban areas and rural regions. By analysing signal propagation characteristics in different environments mainly indoor environment, network operators can make informed decisions about infrastructure planning, frequency allocation, and power control. This study concludes that mmMAGIC channel models are more efficient than 3GPP models in short-range areas such as indoor environments and urban microcells.
