Cross-Domain Cooperative Resource Scheduling in Integrated XGS-PON and Wi-Fi 6 Network

This paper presents a cooperative resource scheduling scheme for an integrated ten-gigabit symmetrical passive optical network (XGS-PON) and Wi-Fi 6 network. In the Wi-Fi segment, we introduce a centralized resource scheduling approach where access points (APs) manage channel resources and relay scheduling information to the optical line terminal (OL T). Leveraging this information, the OL T pre-allocates additional bandwidth resources for each optical network unit (ONU)-AP in anticipation of more Wi-Fi data arriving in the current transmission cycle, in addition to what is already in its buffer. Simulation results show that, compared to the benchmark scheme, this method reduces end-to-end delay by 57% for voice traffic and 65% for video traffic, while also increasing network throughput by 5%.
