Coordinated Configuration Optimization of Rooftop PV Systems and SVGs in Distribution Network under Extreme Weather
Rooftop photovoltaic (PV) systems are cost-effective but limited in reactive power regulation. This limitation exacerbates voltage safety issues in distribution networks, particularly under extreme weather conditions. Static VAR generators (SVGs), capable of continuously adjusting reactive power, offer a potential solution for effective voltage regulation. However, the high cost of SVGs remains an obstacle. Therefore, this paper proposes a collaborative optimization strategy involving the upgrade of rooftop PV systems and the integration of SVGs to manage voltage fluctuations under extreme weather conditions. Firstly, the outputs of rooftop PV systems and SVGs are modeled. Secondly, to minimize costs, decisions on retrofitting of PV systems and SVGs are derived by solving a mixed-integer second-order cone programming (MISOCP) problem. Finally, the simulation results verify that with the proposed collaborative configuration strategy, the voltage profile can be improved with a reduced cost.
