Research on Dynamic Regulation Characteristics of Ram Air Turbine Generator

The ram air turbine generator serves as the power source for self-generating and refueling pods, ensuring stable and reliable operation through its specific speed recovery and DC bus voltage characteristics under dynamic loads. To achieve this, sub-models for the inlet, turbine, generator, load, and exhaust were created using component-level modeling, and the dynamics model was solved by incorporating capacitive cavity auxiliary variables to close the system equation of state. The study examines how DC bus voltage and rotational speed react to step and pulse loads from 1Hz to 1kHz. Key findings include: DC bus voltage responds faster than rotational speed; voltage peaks for repetitive pulse and step loads are similar; load frequency doesn't affect the initial voltage peak but reduces steady-state pulsation as frequency rises. Above 20Hz, voltage peaks are highest and then stabilize. Rotational speed pulsation decreases with higher frequencies, nearly vanishing above 100Hz due to the motor shaft’s mechanical filtering effect. Future tests should focus on low-frequency load control.
