Innovative Conservation of Intangible Cultural Heritage through Motion Capture and 3D Scanning Methods
For every nation, conserving its heritage is of greatest importance. While tangible heritage can be easily digitized using 3D scanners, making it accessible permanently, intangible cultural heritage presents a greater challenge in this regard. A prime example is Bulgarian folk dances, which vary uniquely across different regions of Bulgaria, along with the traditional costumes worn during these performances. These traditions are often kept by the older generations, and to ensure their preservation, a combination of 3D scanning and motion capture systems should be employed. This report explores an innovative approach, which allows for the conservation of both the movements of the dances and the detailed models of the costumes.
