Inter-band Wavelength Conversion in Multi-band Optical Networks with a Partial Set of Band-Upgraded Links

We propose a novel inter-band wavelength conversion strategy for multi-band optical networks with a partial set of band-upgraded links. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed strategy performs nearly as well as a fully upgraded network with full wavelength conversion capability, while requiring much fewer wavelength converters.

Abstract

We propose a novel inter-band wavelength conversion strategy for multi-band optical networks with a partial set of band-upgraded links. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed strategy performs nearly as well as a fully upgraded network with full wavelength conversion capability, while requiring much fewer wavelength converters.
