Optomechanical Accelerometers Based on Periodic Exceptional Points

The optomechanical accelerometer boasts superior displacement resolution and resistance to electromagnetic interference, making it highly advantageous for inertial navigation systems and motion position detection. In this study, we introduce an optomechanical accelerometer based on the whispering gallery mode microcavity at exceptional points (EPs). By adjusting the angle between two nanoscatterers, the system achieves periodic occurrences of EPs, thereby extending the range of acceleration measurements. Our findings reveal that the accelerometer operating at EPs exhibits an exponential response, providing a highly effective method for enhancing the sensitivity of optical accelerometers.
